The firm has its roots in Panganiban Benitez Parlade & Africa Law Offices or PABLAW, which was renamed in 1996 as Benitez Parlade Africa Herrera Parlade & Panga Law offices when one of its founding partners, former Chief Justice Artemio V. Panganiban joined the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
The retirement in 2004 of several senior partners of PABLAW led to the creation of the present firm with Dean Custodio O. Parlade, President Emeritus of Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc., as the firm's Of Counsel.
